Our Training Model

A long-term, integrated approach to complete hockey athlete development.

ARMORY ATHLETES COMPETING ON-ICE DURING CAMP IMAGE

DEVELOPMENT IS A PROCESS— NOT AN EVENT

True athlete development does not happen in isolated sessions, camps, or short-term bursts.

It is a consistent, progressive process that builds movement quality, physical capacity, hockey skill, and competitive resilience over time.

THE ARMORY INTEGRATED HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT GRAPHIC

INTEGRATED ON-ICE AND OFF-ICE TRAINING

On-ice and off-ice training are interdependent components of one unified system.

  • Off-ice builds general athleticism and durability
  • On-ice refines hockey-specific technique and skill

Integration ensures transfer to performance and long-term development.

INDEPENDENT PRACTICE MATTERS

While structured coaching is essential, long-term athlete development also requires athletes to take ownership of their training.

The Armory environment intentionally blends coach-led programming with self-guided independent training, including open shooting, open stickhandling, and open gym opportunities.

Complete athlete development happens when athletes are both coached and empowered.

THE ARMORY SEASONAL PROGRAMMING GRAPHIC

BUILT FOR LONG-TERM PROGRESSION

  Our programming prioritizes:

  • Movement competency before load
  • Strength before power
  • Control before speed
  • Quality before volume

Each season builds upon the last to support sustainable development.

Complete Athlete Development

THE ARMORY COMPLETE HOCKEY ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT GRAPHIC

Complete athlete development means addressing the full picture — not just skills or strength in isolation, but how athletes move, train, think, and perform over time.

At The Armory, long-term athlete development is built around progression, adaptability, and durability across every stage of an athlete’s hockey journey.

Integrated By Design

THE ARMORY INTEGRATED HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT GRAPHIC

On-ice and off-ice training are not separate services — they are intentionally aligned.

Physical preparation supports skill execution. On-ice training reinforces the movement patterns and capacities built off the ice.

This integration ensures development transfers instead of remaining isolated.

Seasonal Training Approach

THE ARMORY SEASONAL TRAINING MODEL GRAPHIC

Athletes don’t need the same type of training year-round — they need the right training at the right time.

Our seasonal approach reflects the natural rhythm of the hockey year and supports recovery, growth, preparation, and performance without burnout or stagnation.
