Summer Program - Growth Phase
Growth, through a greater degree of deliberate practice, is the objective of our summer program.
The Armory's summer program incorporates a deliberate practice approach in aspects of core hockey fundamental development -- skating ABC's (agility/balance/coordination), puck handling, passing, and shooting -- while still prioritizing the use of small area and full-ice competitive games for continued development of decision-making skills, Hockey IQ, creativity, and most importantly, player enjoyment.
All core fundamental work aligns with USA Hockey's age-based curriculum and will be conducted in a dynamic environment that mirrors game situations and constraints to maximize skill development and transferability. Score will be kept in competitive game-play/small area games to encourage and elevate compete-level and the team that "wins the day" will be awarded prizes after each session.
Goalies receive dedicated instruction from Waukesha Coach & Goalie Instructor, Jim Gornick.
